Is there a daily photo limit on WhatsApp?

Up to 100 photos or videos per send: that is the limit given by WhatsApp's help center, on phones and on the web version. To share more, you repeat the operation. Photos are sent in standard quality by default, which means compressed; the HD option, which can be set as the default, keeps more detail.

The limit: 100 photos or videos per send

On Android, WhatsApp's help center says you can tap and hold in the gallery to select up to 100 images. The web version states the same limit: up to 100 photos or videos at once, each with its own caption if you like.

The help center does not mention any daily cap: for 300 photos, you send three batches. WhatsApp does warn that sending a very large number of photos at once may cause issues, and suggests sending fewer at a time if that happens.

What about quality?

WhatsApp notes that shared media may be lower quality than the original, because media files are usually compressed when shared. Before each send, the HD icon lets you choose between standard and HD quality. To stop thinking about it, set HD as the default in WhatsApp Settings, under Storage and data, then Media upload quality.

WhatsApp also lets you send a file as a document, up to 2 GB: the photo then arrives as an attachment to open rather than an image in the chat, which is clumsy for flicking through dozens of photos. We cover these trade-offs in our article on how WhatsApp compresses event photos.

And videos?

Videos follow their own rule: with a faster connection the default limit is 100 MB at 720p, and 64 MB at 480p on a slower one, according to the same help page. Anything larger has to go as a document or through another service: see how to send a video that is too large.
