A 60-inch (150 cm) round table seats 8 people comfortably, a 72-inch (180 cm) round seats 10, and a 6-foot (180 cm) rectangular table seats 6. Rental companies often quote wider ranges, up to 10 at a 60-inch round and 12 at a 72-inch: use the higher numbers for buffets, and stick to the lower ones for a plated dinner.

Round or rectangular?
